ROLE: Lead UX Designer
DURATION: August 2021 – September 2021

Project Vision

Uniwork is an application to help people find roles, jobs, or volunteer work to ease them into a profession of their liking.

Challenges

Competitive analysis

To build a concrete foundation for Trakr, I had to compare the current applications and platforms on the current market related to gaming records and e-sport analytics. I concluded on the mutual features each app had which made it as functional as possible, as well as features that may have been left out which Trakr can leverage and take advantage of.

I found that only one of my four main competitors had some sort of user profile and personalization which can be capitalized on to give users a sense of pride in their achievements. Accolades tied to a user can then be made into a social networking app where other users can share and find out the achievements a person has in their gaming careers.

Meet the users

Pen & Paper Wireframes

Before moving onto high fidelity wireframes and prototypes, I wanted to determine what the core of the app would look like.

Wireflow

Grasping the interconnection between all screens fully determines how a user traverses through the experience and to complete the user journey that is intended for the app.

CHALLENGE 1

One place to find opportunities

Job seekers want to find a place that has the highest multitude of job opportunities so they don’t need to see duplicates of the same listing anywhere else.

CHALLENGE 2

Layout of elements and skeleton of the design

Structural design is the key to keeping the user engaged when using your app as it fixates the user on the user flow with no hinderance.

CHALLENGE 3

One-stop shop for all job related enquiries

Having a centralized location for all job related topics will keep the user engaged even if they leave the app and come back.

CHALLENGE 4

Validity of opportunities

Job listings by affirmed companies such as Microsoft, Facebook, or ANZ Bank will entice the user to continue looking for other opportunities in the corporate environment.

Style Guide

Using the magenta pink instills slight aggressiveness to show pride and dominance in the games that users achieve well in as well as not being too harsh to show other players they are capable to learn and grow. Black and white are standard colors to distribute harmony and open space in areas of the application.

Takeaways

As someone who has been in the shoes of those who are job seeking or finding a place in the career they love, having a place to find your dreams from nothing is important. Whether it is to find a job to kickstart your career or even just volunteer work to gain experience. All the experience is worth it.

Having the opportunity to dive deep into an app for social good allows me to feel strengthened in empowering those around me. This app would be very beneficial for anyone whether you are currently in a career or not. Finding a way towards your dream job is the first step of it all.
